What to wear to a boudoir photoshoot

As someone who’s had the privilege of guiding many women through the empowering experience of boudoir photography, I know how important it is to feel both prepared and confident before your session. And today, I want to take a moment to share some real talk about what to wear to your boudoir photoshoot to set you up for success.

The Importance of What To Wear To A Boudoir Photoshoot

I say this with so much love because it’s something many women overlook. When you wear tight clothing before your session, it can leave marks on your skin. And if you’ve just taken off a bra, it can disrupt the smoothness we want to capture in your photographs. The same goes for hair ties or watches—they can leave impressions on your skin that are difficult to remove, and we want your final photos to be as flawless as possible.

The last thing you want is to feel self-conscious about those little details during your session. It’s all about setting you up for success so you can focus on what matters most: feeling beautiful, confident, and empowered.

My Simple Recommendations:

Loose, Comfy Clothing: Instead of tight-fitting clothes, I recommend opting for pyjamas or any loose, comfortable pieces. They’re easy to remove without messing up your hair and makeup, ensuring you’re ready to step into your session feeling fresh and relaxed. Plus, the more relaxed you feel, the more natural and confident your photos will turn out!

Go Braless: To avoid those pesky marks, it’s best to go braless before the session. This helps keep your skin smooth and ready for those stunning shots. If you’re nervous about this, know that you’re not alone! Many women feel a little unsure about going braless, but I promise it makes all the difference in the final images. Plus, it’s all part of the experience of feeling free and confident in your own skin.

Pack Your Favourite Day Clothes: After your session, don’t stress about what to wear. Simply pack your favourite day clothes to change into before heading home. This will help you feel comfortable and confident as you transition back to your regular day. If you want to bring something extra special to wear for the ride home, go for it! But the main goal is to feel comfortable and relaxed as you leave the studio.

Why These Tips Matter

You might be wondering, “Why is it so important to focus on what I wear to the session?” The answer is simple: it helps you focus on what truly matters—YOU! The more you can prepare yourself physically, the more you’ll be able to show up mentally and emotionally for the experience. You’re here to celebrate yourself, and I want you to feel as confident and comfortable as possible.

It’s That Easy!

So, if you feel like rolling out of bed and just turning up as you are—perfect! That’s all you need to do, and I’ll take care of the rest. I want you to feel at ease and empowered from the moment you walk through the door.

Boudoir photography is all about embracing who you are, and feeling confident in your own skin. So, don’t worry about perfection—just focus on being yourself, and the magic will happen.

I can’t wait to see you shine during your session. You’ve got this!
