Why I no longer offer champagne for my boudoir experience

If the thought of a boudoir session makes you feel a little nervous, you’re not alone. It’s completely natural to feel some butterflies when stepping outside your comfort zone. For many women, the idea of having a glass of wine or bubbly beforehand seems like a good way to calm those nerves. While I totally understand this instinct, I’ve made the decision to no longer offer alcohol during my sessions—and I’d love to share why.

Why I Made This Decision

Boudoir photography is about celebrating your confidence and beauty. It’s a space where you can feel empowered, pampered, and free to be yourself. However, alcohol can sometimes interfere with achieving this goal. Here’s how:

  • Red Skin and Droopy Eyes: Alcohol can cause your skin to flush and your eyes to lose their vibrant, confident sparkle. These subtle changes can impact the way you look and feel in your photos.
  • Bloating: No one wants to feel bloated during a session designed to make you feel your most beautiful and empowered.
  • Impaired Inhibitions: While a glass of wine might seem like a good idea, it can cloud your judgment and lead to poses or expressions that don’t align with the confident, authentic version of yourself we aim to capture.

By skipping the alcohol, we can ensure that your natural beauty and true essence shine through in every image.

How to Feel Confident Without Champagne

The good news? You absolutely don’t need champagne to rock your boudoir session. Here are some tried-and-true ways to embrace your nerves and channel them into stunning, empowering photos:

1. Embrace Your Nerves

Nervous energy can actually be a good thing! It often translates into excitement and anticipation, which can come through beautifully in your photos. Instead of trying to dull your nerves, lean into them. Channel that energy into powerful, captivating expressions that tell your story.

2. Hydrate and Nourish Your Body

Drinking water and eating light, nutritious meals before your session can make a world of difference. Proper hydration keeps your skin glowing, while balanced meals ensure you have the energy to feel your best throughout the shoot. This simple preparation helps you look and feel radiant in every shot.

3. Focus on Breathing Techniques

Deep-breathing exercises can work wonders for calming your mind and body. Try this: inhale deeply for a count of four, hold for four, and exhale slowly for six. Repeat a few times before your session to feel grounded and centred. It’s amazing how a little mindfulness can boost your confidence.

4. Trust the Process

You’ve chosen to work with a professional who knows how to guide you into the most flattering poses, lighting, and expressions. Trust that together, we’ll create stunning, timeless images that reflect your inner and outer beauty. My job is to ensure you feel comfortable and supported every step of the way.
