What to Expect at a Mackay Wedding Expo
Couples in and around Mackay and the Whitsundays are incredibly fortunate to have two bridal expos each year:
- Mackay & Whitsundays Wedding Expo – Sunday, 16 February 2025, 10 a.m.–2 p.m., held at Mackay Entertainment and Convention Centre – Follow.
- Mackay Weddings & Events Expo – 2025 date to be confirmed – Follow.
There are so many different types of vendors you can (finally) meet and get expert advice from for planning your special day, including:

How to prepare before attending
Save the date and mark it on your calendar. Add some extra time on either side for coffee with your partner or support group, and a place to unwind after the expo to digest all the information. Leading up to the wedding expo, the event will showcase wedding vendors and professionals on their social media pages. Make a list of all the vendors you want to chat with—this will help ensure you don’t miss anyone important.
Making the most of your time at the expo
Arrive early! Show bags are often available for the first hundred or so couples. It can feel overwhelming when entering the exhibition—lots of people, lots going on, and lots to discover. Stick to your list and visit your preferred vendors first, then explore the rest of the vendors at the expo. Engage with vendors, ask questions, and take notes on anything you want to remember. Many vendors offer special deals exclusively for the expo, so be sure to take advantage of these. If there’s a fashion show or workshop you want to see, add it to your list and locate the area as soon as you arrive.

What to do after the expo
Imagine this: you’ve spent a few hours with your partner and/or support group, along with hundreds of other couples, exploring vendors galore and gathering lots of information. Take a seat, a breath, and a moment—you did it! Now, go through all your notes and flyers. Sort through them and keep only the information from vendors who align with your wedding day vision. If you left your details with a vendor, they’ll likely follow up within a week, but it doesn’t hurt to reach out first to secure your date. It’s never too early to book your favourite vendors!
